RED ROCK MUSICAL PAWS

Red Rock Musical Paws, started by several Canine Freestyle enthusiasts, is a club. It meets once a week at the park in the Ranchos in Kanab.  As a club, rather than a class, there is no fee. It is a chance for people to meet with their dogs, learn about Freestyle, and practice dancing with their dogs.

Many of us are members of the Musical Dog Sport Association  (not required), and Red Rock Musical Paws is a member of the MDSA Circle of Friends.

Here is one of our videos of us enjoying our dogs.

Everyone is welcome! No prior experience needed. You don’t even have to really understand what Freestyle is, we’ll teach you. And no attendance commitment. Feel free to come only when you want.

Freestyle is a great way to improve your connection with your dog, and learn to communicate better with each other. For the dogs it’s great mental stimulation (hmmm–for me also!). As you are interacting with your dog in a light-hearted way, many dogs develop a greater interest in being trained!

It is also a chance to make some new friends with a mutual interest in dogs.

If you are interested, there is a book with training suggestions for Dancing With Dogs. by Richard Curtis, one of the masters of freestyle.  Enjoy one of his routines with this video.

There is now a Red Rock Musical Paws Facebook page. Check it out, and ask to join if you are interested.  It is a chance to meet others interested in training their dogs, and have some fun activities for you and your pooch.

What has been your experience with Canine Freestyle?  How has it changed your relationship with your dog?  Or are you interested in trying it our?  Leave a comment, or email me directly at keith@goodtimesdogtraining.com.

  1. Being a member of Red Rock Musical Paws and working with Keith has created a magical bond between me and my rescued husky. My husky has learned to trust me through our training together. Even my 13 year old husky loves to dance.

    1. Hi Lisa,
Your dogs do certainly like to dance! You’ve done a great job with them. It’s exciting to see dogs progress and love their training!
And as a founding member of Red Rock Musical Paws, you have really contributed to making it such a fun and productive group! Thank you!
