There are many products out there for our dogs. I’ve chosen some of my favorites to review–things I’ve tried and liked.
Clickers–A Good Communication Tool
Why would you use a clicker? See Clicker Training Dogs–Great Communication!
There are many different types of clickers out there. I prefer the button type, as shown, as I don’t have to hunt for the place that clicks (as you do with the box type). I personally prefer not to have a wrist band, but many people like their clickers with wrist attachments (I find it gets in my way–if I’m not holding the clicker it flops around). These are just personal preferences.
I like to have several clickers, as they seem to hide from me. I can always use my marker word (“yes”), but for training a new behavior I like to use an actual clicker.

Terry Ryan Clik Stik
This is a variation of the clicker that I find really useful. It is an extendable target stick with a clicker in the handle. It works really well for teaching certain behaviors, such as weaving through your legs. Or you can just use it as a clicker.

PetSafe Treat Pouch
It has pockets for your keys, cell phone, etc. For more information or to buy, click here.
Long Lines For Training
When I use a long line for training (for example, when I’m working on getting a solid recall), I prefer a 20′ line. I tend to get tangled up in a longer line, but maybe you’re more coordinated than I am!
Justzon Cotton Web Training Lead
This is and inexpensive line that wears well. It comes in a variety of lengths: 15, 20 or 30 feet. I find most people like a cotton web line as it is inexpensive, but functional. For details or to buy, click here.
Signature K9 Biothane Long Line
Biothane lines are easier on your hands, less likely to get hung up on brush, and wear very well. The downside is they are a bit more expensive. If you are planning to use it a lot or are using it as a tracking/trailing line, this might be a better option for you. They wear very well, so are a good investment.
The Signature line comes in several widths (I prefer the 5/8 inch width, but many people prefer a narrower line) and two length options (15′ or 33′). For more details or to buy, click here.
Live Infinitely Exercise Ball
For Treibball any large (minimum size=to the height of your dog at his shoulder) inflatable ball will work, and I have found this one to be burst resistant. It comes in different sizes and colors, with its own hand pump. It is a reasonably priced ball (price varies with size) and lasts well. For more information or to buy click here.
Bark Box
Dogs like variety in their toys. We often like to try new treats for our pups. Bark Box delivers a variety of toys and treats for your dog right to your door each month. Each box contains 2 toys, 2 all-natural bags of treats, and a chew. 1,6 and 12 month plans are available. What a great way to provide some interesting choices for your dog!
